The amount of waste in the past was in our opinion criminal, every company that exported timber did so without a thought for the future, it was interesting to note that most hardwoods, mahogany etc was known by the name of the port it was exported from, nowadays timber is more likely to be known under a single regions banner, far eastern or similar.

The interesting thing about timber doors is that even when they have been fitted to a property for 100 years or more they can continue to function properly and when they dont they can be added to, reduced in size and different locks or draught excluders added, the same cannot be said about PVC doors, however when all is said and done a PVC door does not need any maintenance and on more modern properties or for families who are too busy with their careers they can be a better option.
